The Gospel According to an Empty Pocket

Beloveds,

There is a sentence so small it could fit in a coat with holes in the elbows:

A poor man is better than a liar.

No choir required.
No incense.
No footnotes.

Because the truth does not need decoration.

We live in a world that teaches us to fear being poor more than being false.
It tells us that an empty wallet is a failure,
but an empty promise is just “business.”

Yet listen closely, my friends:

Poverty can strip your shelves,
but lying strips your soul.

A poor person still wakes up inside the same self they fell asleep in.
A liar has to rehearse the morning.

The poor man says, “This is what I have.”
The liar says, “This is what I want you to believe.”

One stands in reality.
The other builds a house on fog.

And yes, the poor are mocked.
They are called lazy, unlucky, unblessed.
But the liar is often applauded.
Given microphones.
Given power.
Given followers.

Because lies, like glitter, look good from a distance
and poison everything they touch up close.

Let me tell you something dangerous:

Truth is heavier than money.

Money floats.
Truth sinks deep.

A poor man with truth can still build a future.
A liar with riches can only stack delays before collapse.

You can feed a family with honesty and time.
You cannot feed them forever with deception.

And here is the part the temples don’t like to say out loud:

Some of the richest rooms in the world are spiritually bankrupt.
Some of the poorest kitchens glow like altars.

Because when a person refuses to lie,
they are already wealthy in the one currency that survives history.

So do not be ashamed if you are broke.
Be ashamed only if you are false.

If you must choose,
choose the empty pocket over the crooked tongue.
Choose the hard truth over the easy lie.
Choose being small and real over being large and hollow.

For in the end, beloveds,
the truth does not ask what you owned.

It asks only one thing:

Did you tell it?
